Moth Inspiration
Part of Open Space 70
OUR MOTH NIGHT LIVE STREAM WITH HEBNAT PLANNED FOR 14 JULY 2023 WAS CANCELLED...
We are lucky to have a fantastic variety of moths in our valleys of all shapes, sizes and colours: green, gold, silver, blue, and some as large as your hand! Sadly we're not so lucky with the weather and our planned Friday 14 July night moth event (as part of Open Space 70) had to be cancelled as it was too windy and wet to run the live stream event.
Richard Rainbow of HebNat www.hebnat.org.uk created an Android Moth App , made for our event, which is now available to download for free.
Our planned event was at High Hirst Woodmeadow in Hebden Bridge, where, on 1 July 2023, Hebden Royd Town Council successfully ran a moth 'breakfast' (an early morning event where moths are inspected as they are released from light 'traps'). We contacted some of those at that event and invited them to share their moth photos with us. Chris Standley, of Rogue Robot, who we'd invited to film our planned streamed event, has created this short film from photos of the moth breakfast, and these are shared to music from Madeleine Brooks, who had been invited to perform her moth song at our live streamed event.
