Did you visit our free art exhibitions?
Our exhibitions were open to all and free to explore. Each exhibition space featured unique artwork from public workshops, some of our Engaging Neighbourhoods partners, and our Open Call for submissions from local professional and amateur artists.
We created activity sheets for kids, provided a selection of beautiful books to read, and leaflets and bookmarks to collect at these exhibitions. One of our artists even made ceramic games you could play.
76 local emerging and established artists submitted work to our open call for art for the three exhibitions between 16 March and 17 June, some showing their work for the first time. At least one piece of work from every open call artist (who did not withdraw) was exhibited. In total 104 visual art pieces were exhibited along with dozens of pieces of creative writing. Our total estimated visitors across the 40 days of our three exhibitions being open is 8,650 people.
Thank you to our Art Fund student Creative Project Assistants, Iona and Serena, for coordinating this strand of our project, and to all the artists for submitting their work, framing it, and dropping off and collecting it. Thanks too to our three venues, and to our volunteer invigilators.
