We've developed the short story into a community performance, which has been filmed to be shared in Calderdale primary schools in 2024-25.
The short story has been used as inspiration in other ways in the past. This 30 minute animation of the story from 1987 by won the 1988 Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film and in 2021 this String Quartet No. 1 - The Man Who Planted Trees by Noah Max was premiered by the Brompton Quartet - it features words from the story.
