As a key commission for Calderdale Council’s Culturedale: Year of Culture 2024, our flagship project The Man Who Planted Trees brought creativity and community together across the borough.

Thanks to public funding from the National Lottery through Arts Council England, we delivered a rich programme of public workshops, exhibitions, live events, and two vibrant community sharing days. This support enabled wide participation and celebrated local creativity at every stage. Learn more about Arts Council England at ARTSCOUNCIL.ORG.UK.

We’re also grateful to the Postcode Neighbourhood Trust, funded by players of People’s Postcode Lottery, for their generous grant of £23,904 for our project year (Oct 2023–Sept 2024). This funding covered core staff costs (Creative Producer, Volunteer Coordinator & Administrator) and our shared office rent, helping us grow our volunteer programme, build long-term partnerships, and strengthen our organisational sustainability.

We're proud to continue our Engaging Neighbourhoods outreach and engagement work across Calderdale, once again supported by Calderdale Council and a network of incredible community partners.
In 2024, we've collaborated with:
  • St Augustine’s Centre, Halifax (supporting sanctuary seekers)
  • Halifax Opportunities Trust (Children’s Centres)
  • Rastrick High School
  • Calder Community Cares
  • Time Out (Healthy Minds Calderdale)
  • WomenCentre Halifax
  • Calderdale Young Carers Service
  • The Space at Field Lane, Rastrick
  • Project Colt, Elland (addiction recovery & community hub)

Thanks to Art Fund support, we created two exciting Creative Project Assistant roles for students. Working with our creative leads—Rebekah, Lisa, and the team—they co-produced the visual arts elements of this year’s community projects. Learn more at ARTFUND.ORG.

We’re also grateful to Hebden Royd Town Council for funding workshops, public events, volunteer support, and exhibitions that bring local visual arts to life in the Hebden Royd area.
