The Man Who Planted Trees from the tale by Jean Giono
Co-created by Andy Barry, Amanda Dalton, and Alison Duddle working with individuals and communities across Calderdale.
With puppetry and mask, professional actors, a community choir and team of young people aged 9 – 16 from across Calderdale, this much-loved fable is brought to magical life for all the family in a captivating re-imagining of the story, for our times.
It tells the tale of Jaygee, a young disillusioned traveller who finds herself alone and lost in a barren landscape and of the solitary figure she encounters, planting acorns one by one – a slow and simple action that over the years will transform both Jaygee and the once silent, empty valley. What might they each become?
A play with a strong environmental message delivered with captivating visuals, humour, and a fair bit of hope, The Man Who Planted Trees offers an enchanting theatre experience for everyone aged 6 – 106.
