COMMUNITY SPIRIT AWARD 2018 WINNERS
ARTS AND CULTURE

The Nova Collective won the 2018 'Arts and Culture' award at the Community Spirit Awards. The collective won for their first project, 'Disparate Youth' - Produced and Directed by Kate Radford, featuring young artists and real stories from the community of young people in Hebden Bridge. What it means to grow up here and how it affects our emotional and physical landscape.  The project employed 14 young people aged16-30 to participate, commission and curate.

THE NOVA COLLECTIVE

The Nova Collective started in April 2017 as an initiative to support young artists in the area. The collective aims to not only produce its own independent creative events, but to provide legitimate creative opportunities for young people in the area. Since it began it has successfully employed over 20 young artists in various capacities, to create, curate and maintain the energetic flow in Hebden Bridge. They have successfully collaborated and gained funding to create large scale installations and exhibitions, as well as independently produced music events at the Trades Club and other venues across Hebden Bridge.

'Disparate Youth' the Collective's first large scale installation was created to explore what it means to grow up in the Hebden Bridge community and how it has shaped young people's emotional and physical landscape. The project was proudly funded by Hebden Royd Town Council.

Are you aged 16-30? Based in Hebden Bridge? To find out about current projects, opportunities and commissions please visit the Nova website.
